President Donald Trump has announced his nominee for a key federal oversight position within the
government. Dennis Kirk has been selected to serve as the inspector general for the Interior
Department. This role would oversee administrative reviews and internal operations within the
agency. Kirk previously contributed as a co-author to the policy blueprint known as Project 2025.
Before this nomination, he also served as an adviser to Tulsi Gabbard. The selection places a
familiar conservative policy figure into an oversight capacity. Interior Department inspectors
general monitor agency spending, programs, and integrity. Confirmation hearings in the Senate will
determine whether Kirk officially steps into the role.
